Singapore: The must-do's! (Day 1 & 2)

I'm currently making an itinerary for the visit of Totek's brother & his family here in Singapore; And I've decided to share the love! Hope to bump into you here in the Lion City!

Day 1 (Thursday)
6PM - Arrival at Changi Airport
  • If you've got lots of baggages, then better unload it first in your hotel or to the place where you are staying.
  • Changi Airport has 4 terminals--PAL Terminal 2, Cebu Pacific & Tiger Airways Budget Terminal.
8PM - Dinner at Glutton's Bay or Makansutra
  • We love to eat here! It's the best destination for tourists because you'll have a taste of Singapore on the cheap, along the superb view of Marina Bay.
  • According to Cova: "pinaka-lami na kain bro!"
    Must try:
    1. Sting Ray - There is only one stall selling Sting Ray.
    2. Chilli Crabs with Bun - Buy from the stall beside the Sting Ray-selling stall. hahaha
    3. Chicken Wings
    4. Cheese Prata with Curry Sauce - No need to buy the chicken curry combo. Just order cheese prata and ask for the curry sauce.
    5. Fried Rice - Get it from the same stall as the Chilli Crabs.
  • Address: 8 Raffles Ave, Singapore 039802

9PM - Merlion at Fullerton Square

  • After the sumptuous meal, walk your way to the famous Merlion. Before reaching, you can take snaps with the Durian-shaped Esplanade Theaters on Bay, and Singapore's cityscape.

Des & Earl (Esplanade Theaters on Bay)

Si Pong na ang may solo!

10PM - Let your guests rest for a long day tomorrow! Hahaha

Day 2 (Friday)
9AM - Jurong Bird Park

  • Take the MRT to Boon Lay Station and transfer to SBS number 194 or 251 at the Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
  • Ticket price starts at S$12/child & S$18/adult. For more details visit their website http://www.birdpark.com.sg/
11AM - Lunch at Marche Swiss Restaurant

  • Marche is not the typical restaurant where you get seated, order from a fancy menu, and take your bill through the black leather folder. It's designed to show how the Swiss market looks like! As you enter the restaurant, the receptionist will be giving you a card (like a credit card) that will be used to order from the different stalls. (It's so cool but when you lose it, say bye bye to your $100. hahahaha) It's so tempting because ALL the food is good in Marche!
  • Must Try:
    1. Roestti with Garlic Pork Sausage & lots of sour cream! hahaha
    2. Crepe
    3. Pork Knuckle
    4. All their desserts spell AWESOME!
  • Take the MRT to Somerset Station. Exit to 313 Somerset.
  • Other outlet: Vivo City

1PM - Orchard Road
  • Walk along the streets of the famous Orchard Road. This is the shopaholic's den. If your not really going to shop, I suggest you walk outside the malls to appreciate the unique architecture of their buildings.
  • Try the $1 ice cream! I prefer wafer than bread.

3PM - Singapore Flyer

5PM - Marina Bay Sands, The Shoppes, Art Science Museum & Gardens by the Bay

  • When I went here, I was speechless! Awed by how creative the people behind these are. And I couldn't help on thinking that what if Davao City will be a different country and we'll be like Singapore, and we'll have the same currency as them, only called Davao Dollar...and so the wishful thinking goes on. HAHAHAHA
8PM - Get ready for Kuala Lumpur
  • Assuming that Day 2 is a Friday, thank God it's a weekend so let's go to Malaysia! Singapore to Kuala Lumpur would be 6-7 hours by coach so it's best to take the last trip and sleep during the travel because by the time you reach Malaysia, Mr. Sunshine is ready to greet you and you  must be ready to explore! It's also one way to save on 1 night hotel stay and to maximize your bout.
10:30PM - Travel to Kuala Lumpur
  • Usually, the last trip would be around 10:30 or 11 in the evening, depending on the coach company. I highly recommend transtar travel's solitaire coach because it has very comfortable lazy boy massage seats. You can visit their website for more details http://www.transtar.com.sg/. Just purchase a one-way ticket (SG-KL). It's cheaper to buy your return ticket from Malaysia.
Day 3 & 4 Coming up next! :)

Sin of Familiarity

fa·mil·i·ar·i·ty

  [fuh-mil-ee-ar-i-tee, -mil-yar-]  Show IPA
noun, plural fa·mil·i·ar·i·ties.
1.
thorough knowledge or mastery of a thing, subject, etc.
2.
the state of being familiar friendly relationship; closeacquaintance; intimacy.
3.
an absence of ceremony and formality; informality.
4.
freedom of behavior justified only by the closestrelationship; undue intimacy.
5.
Often, familiarities. an instance of such freedom, as inaction or speech.
6.
a sexual liberty or impropriety.

Above is the description of the word FAMILIARITY according to Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Familiarity?s=t. I've been wanting to share this lesson about familiarity that I learned from my aunt (my mom's cousin) because I believe that each one of us may have encountered this in any way.

For me, "familiarity" is a positive word. Being familiar with something or someone is a great advantage because it transcends knowledge. When you're familiar with something or someone, then you wouldn't have a difficulty dealing with it or with him respectively. Yes, if you know how to drive then you can drive any car, BUT it would still be easier driving your own car because you are familiar with it. Same goes with your relationships, you may share your thoughts with your room mate, but it would be more comfortable to confide your problems with your best friend for more than 20 years. However, familiarity really breeds contempt and in all honesty I plead guilty of it. How? It's when you ignore your mom or dad's call and worst never return their call, because you know they would understand that you are busy; Or when you ditch your friends' dinner, for a once-in-a-lifetime date, because you know they will always be your friends no matter what; Or when you don't value your partner's opinion because he always allows you to make the decision; and so on. We tend to ignore the people who we're very familiar with because we know they would always be there and they would always understand. However, relationships should always be nourished and as the cliche, "it always takes two to tango." Your family would understand how busy you are, but would be very relieved to hear you're okay; Your friends would wish you to find your knight with shining armor, but would love to share dinner with you both; And your partner would want to give you everything, but would fall for you all over again if you value his opinion or decision. So let's all spread the love!

soapbox

I was supposed to make a "wed-site" for my upcoming wedding but just when I was halfway done, I realized that I don't have the gold to invite as much people that I want, so might as well keep our wedding details discreet; Immediately, I clicked the cancel button. HAHAHA However, these past few months, I've had a lot of free time, (thank God for my job!) and I've been spending most of it with wedding planning, reading e-books, and a lot of snoozing and eating; AND seriously, I want to lessen the 3rd and 4th part! They said that in order for one person to get rid of a vice, he should replace it with something that would really interest him. Just like "Manang Henya" or Susan Roces in real life, her first love was nicotine, and she was able to cheat and totally let go of it through gadgets. She ate "Apple" everyday! Amazing that at her age, she enjoys using an iPhone and iPad. Yes, I know Manang Henya, because I love "Walang Hanggan." HAHAHAHA Baduy na kung baduy, or whatever you might call me but I'm a certified Kapamilya

Going back to my introductions and what made me do this blog, I want to replace my aforementioned third and fourth vices to writing or blogging. I'm definitely not a good writer, but I love to talk, I'm nosy, (I guess all my friends are! HAHAHA), I love to share or tell stories, and I love giving advices-->meddler! HAHAHA Naming this blog wasn't really troublesome. First came into my mind was "Confessions of a Drama Queen" simply because I'm a drama queen! HAHAHA I believe life's full of drama so why not take the lead role! But I thought it sounded common-"ish", so I went with "soapbox," because from now on, this will be my platform to blab anything I want to say.

P.S.

I just pray that everything I write would be helpful! HAHAHA
